My mom and I spent a week at NH Collection Paseo del Prado and had an absolutely fabulous stay. I got in contact with Francesca (in the customer relations team) a few weeks before arrival to be sure we got the best type of room for my mom (who's a senior and prefers a walk-in shower to a bathtub) and to ask for help making a reservation at a highly sought after restaurant. Francesca was so delightful and helpful in her emails that I knew we would be well taken care of, and indeed we were. We both had good-sized and comfortable rooms with amazing views of the Neptune Fountain: if you prefer spacious rooms, as we do, I recommend booking the higher categories, and the windows are highly insulated so as to reduce street noise to a minimum even with a view over such a busy traffic circle. The location was absolutely ideal for our purposes: the Prado is across the street in one direction, the Thyssen just one small block up in another! On the edge of the Huertas (Barrio de las letras) district, with its innumerable dining options, narrow & atmospheric streets, historic theaters, etc. Very easy walks too to Sol (about 10 min) and the Plaza Mayor (about 15), so we were able to walk to so many places in the historic center. Not a bad walk even over to the Royal Palace area. To get to sites a little further away, such as the Museo Sorolla or the Royal Tapestry Factory, we took cabs (very moderately priced), which are conveniently lined up in a taxi stand right out front! As an aside, it only took 20 minutes by cab to and from the airport (at a 30 euros fixed fare). All of the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, from Javier, Roberto and team at the front desk, who always greeted us warmly and by name whenever we left or returned to the hotel, to the customer relations (concierge) team - Francesca (who came out to greet us when she heard us checking in) and Julia, to the friendly breakfast servers (breakfast itself is a wonderful spread)
